So I came to Michigan to study American Tribal Style Belly Dance and attain my General Skills certification. But the format has changed slightly. And I’m so not complaining because THIS HAPPENED!

Carolena Nericcio and Megha Gavin presenting me with my general skills certification for
Classic American Tribal Style Belly Dance
Previously, General Skills was one long, four-day, 20-hour belly dance intensive. But now, the moves have been separated into “classic” and “modern” categories. So these past two days, we’ve been focusing on the core, classic movements of American Tribal Style belly dance. And to our surprise, this afternoon we received a certificate for completing the classic belly dance training.
Adrenaline was surging when we found out we were getting not one, but TWO certificates! So we, of course, had to treat ourselves to dessert that night. The Twisted Rooster makes a peanut butter and jelly tiramisu. It. Was. Amazing.
And we felt we deserved a dip in the pool after that. I mean, three hot belly dancers all certified on a Tuesday night- we really had no choice. 😛
But it’s not over yet. In fact, I am posting this on the morning of the last day of training. Once this day is finished, I should hold in my hands a second certificate for “modern” American Tribal Style belly dance. So cross your fingers for me. Hopefully my next post will just be a huge picture of my new certificates hanging on the wall in my dance studio. And me looking like a boss with all my Fat Chance Belly Dance swag on. However, just to tide you over…
